Health-Based Vocational Training Programs for Rural Youth

ICERT has developed and introduced the following Six Health-Based Vocational Training Programs for the rural youth, both males and females

  • Health Counselors Training Program
  • Skilled Birth Attendant Training
  • Operation Theater Assistant Training Program
  • Extended Multipurpose Health Workers Training Program
  • Patient Care & Support Training Program

These training programs have been designed, based on following rationale:

  • There is a need for developing health care personnel who understand the rural health requirements and can act as supportive hands for para-medical workers and highly trained medical professionals such as doctors.
  • There is a need to create awareness among members of tribal groups towards modern medical system and help them prevent from visiting quacks and seek modern and scientific health support systems.
  • There is a need to create appropriate knowledge and skills among the members of tribal groups which largely depend on minor forest produce for their livelihood, in order to mainstream this population
  • There is need to create employment opportunities, and the health sector provides a huge platform for the same.
  • Our rural hospitals are providing excellent health services in remote locations and have huge potentials to extend their services in imparting healthy practices in the community through educational and / or training programs.
  • The current medical education system only focuses on developing highly skilled medical professional but there is a need to develop a lower level cadre of trained persons to assist / support the higher level medical personnel.
  • To establish an appropriate referral link between village and urban areas, which include timely identification of health problems and linking them with higher urban medical facilities.
  • To establish an appropriate referral link between village and urban areas, which include timely identification of health problems and linking them with higher medical facilities to help prevent the lives of members of primitive tribal groups.
