Awards & Achievements

Under its Public-Private-Partnership Initiatives, ICERT has been working with the Department of Welfare and the Department of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, Government of Jharkhand since 2006-07. It has been running the Tribal Welfare Rural Hospital Projects since 2008-09 and the Mobile Medical Units since 2009-10. The initial TWRHs were known as MESO Hospitals till 2018-19, which ICERT ran at Kuchai–Seraikela Kharsawan and Basaardih – Lohardaga. Effective 01.12.2018.

The "Selection of Suitable Operators for Operation, Maintenance, and Management of Tribal Welfare Rural Hospitals in Jharkhand" project, initiated by the Office of Tribal Commissioner, Department of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority, and Backward Class Welfare, is a significant endeavor aimed at transforming healthcare for the underprivileged, particularly the tribal population in the state of Jharkhand. This project aligns seamlessly with the broader goal of tribal welfare, enhancing access to quality healthcare and creating a healthier, more hopeful future for the tribal communities of Jharkhand.

In July 2018, this pioneering project was set in motion, with the noble objective of providing high- quality healthcare services to those who have limited access to medical facilities. This project seeks to elevate Tribal Welfare Rural Hospitals to the status of First Referral Units (FRUs), enhancing their capabilities to serve as vital healthcare resources in tribal communities.

A crucial aspect of this project is the engagement of private sector expertise, represented by the concessionaire, Institute of Continuing Education, Research & Training (ICERT for Short). This collaboration not only introduces efficiency but also harnesses the commitment of the private sector to deliver quality healthcare services. Institute of Continuing Education, Research & Training (ICERT for Short) has undertaken the management of two 50-bedded Tribal Rural Hospitals, located in Mananchutang, in Latehar District, and Soy Village in Bano Block of Simdega District.

ICERT was awarded the assignment of establishing, running and managing the two new TWRHs at Latehar and Simdega.

The Tribal Welfare Rural hospital is located at Mananchutang, Latehar, offers Out Patient Service in General Medicine, elementary Kit-based pathology tests like Pregnancy, Malaria, Blood Glucose, COVID Rapid Test, Hemoglobin, Vidal, etc. The hospital also has a 10-Bed Pediatric ICU Facility and a 20 Bed Pediatric Isolation Ward, which were set up during the COVID pandemic, but are currently not operational due to pending formal handover by the District Administration / office of the Civil Surgeon cum Chief Medical Officer of Latehar District to ICERT.

The hospital at Bano, Simdega, offers General Medicine Out Patient Service, elementary Kit-based pathology tests like Pregnancy, Malaria, Blood Glucose, COVID Rapid Test, Hemoglobin, Vidal, etc. Indoor Patients services at this Tribal Welfare Rural Hospital include General Medicine, Prenatal Care, Antenatal Care, Parasitic infection remedies, cuts & injuries, Trauma and RTA Cases, patient fooding, dehydration rehabilitation, patient stabilization and referrals. The hospital also conducts Health Outreach Camps in nearby villages, rural market areas and government schools, addressing various health issues such as general hygiene awareness, de-worming, adolescent anemia, night blindness, water-borne diseases and vision correction prescription. Free medicines and fluid parenteral are dispensed / administered to all Out Patients, Indoor Patients, and Outreach Patients.

ICERT aims to expand its health services in the two hospitals with Early Secondary / First Referral Unit Level Healthcare and Treatment / Surgeries, and is awaiting infrastructure deployment by the Department of Welfare, Government of Jharkhand. ICERT believes that every tribal person and every rural citizen of Bharat deserves access to quality and dignified health care, and strives to make it a reality through its dedicated and compassionate team of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and volunteers.

Over the past five years, the healthcare initiatives undertaken by Tribal Rural Hospitals in Mananchutang, Latehar, and Soy, Bano, Simdega, have made significant strides in providing essential medical services to tribal populations. These projects, managed by Institute of Continuing Education, Research & Training focused on enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality.

Key objectives included expanding healthcare facilities, conducting health camps, and addressing common diseases in these regions. Notably, the hospitals' outreach camps have effectively brought healthcare closer to underserved communities. The demographic analysis identified unique health needs of tribal populations, and the projects have worked towards addressing these concerns. The accomplishments in the past five years lay the foundation for continued improvement in tribal healthcare. These projects represent a commendable endeavor to bridge the healthcare gap in tribal areas.

These two Hospitals have served a substantial number of patients, with 78,446 patients in Mananchutang and more than 76.085 in Soy, Bano till September 2023. These endeavors primarily focused on providing vital medical services to tribal populations, addressing common diseases, and expanding healthcare facilities.

The demographic analysis enabled tailored healthcare solutions, while community health camps and COVID-19 care initiatives underscore the hospitals' commitment to the well-being of tribal communities. These statistics reflect the hospitals' dedication and significant impact on healthcare accessibility and quality in these regions.
